A Curate’s Egg

Not the best of weekends, or at least one with an inauspicious start. Met up with for an after-work drink on Friday. As we left, complained of feeling queasy. Soon after we got home, this progressed to full-on vomiting. Not good. Did my best to look after her and clear up. Poor night’s sleep, thanks to the being restless and wanting four or five feeds (we’ve been led to believe that he’ll get better – we wish he’d hurry up and do so). was feeling a fair bit better the next morning, if not completely Well. She went off to… Read More »A Curate’s Egg

Sad news for the Warwickers

I’m not sure how many of you knew her ( probably does), but I’ve just found out that Kay Goostrey’s younger sister Anna died last September. More here.

Gosh. Just “Gosh”. Now, does this mean that LoM is or isn’t SF? I’m confused!

The fan on our main PC has been misbehaving for the past couple of months (buzzing intermittently), which is a fairly good indication that the bearing has been going. The bearing seized completely within the past few days, but I’m not exactly sure when it happened. So, time to replace things. Dribbling (which may cause a rash or sore, chapped skin on the chin)? Check. A sudden desire to chew anything they can lay their hands on? Check. An urge to bite? Judging by the gum marks on ‘s arm this morning, yes. Either the is turning into a vampire, or he’s starting… Read More »A checklist

Through the eyes of German architectural historians

and I have now been living in our house on Monks Way for almost 27 months; of the places we looked at, it was the largest we could get for what we could afford, and was in a pretty good location as well. It’s also the only place I’ve ever lived that’s been mentioned (albeit in passing) by that cataloguer of British architecture, Nikolaus Pevsner. Of course, the entry for Swaythling was actually written by David Wharton Lloyd, his collaborator on The Buildings of England: Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, but this is much like Leslie Halliwell getting someone… Read More »Through the eyes of German architectural historians

Your PhD got a passing mention in the Register on Friday (even if the quote itself is misattributed to Danny instead of Jim).
