The DVD release of If…. that I pre-ordered from Amazon turned up yesterday, and I have to say that it is even better than I thought it would be. I’ve not yet listened to the commentary by McDowell, but the rest of the extras were worth the price by themselves: Anderson’s 1954 Oscar-winning documentary Thursday’s Children, an interview with Graham Crowden, and the BBC4 Cast and Crew programme chaired by Kirsty Wark and featuring Stephen Frears, David Sherwin, Michael Medwin and Miroslav Ondricek.
